Trailer 1 - IT

IT

I am going to be looking at the Teaser Trailer for the film 'IT' and analysing the different conventions of genre.

  • Contrapuntal sound - happy music at the start which is disorientating, reflects the feelings of the boy as he is excited.
  • Weather - raining at the start which is foreboding, further into the trailer the weather changes.
  • Low key lighting at the start and end, and high key lighting in the middle, which is a contrast.
  • Sound bridge - voiceover of someone speaking over a few different shots.
  • Non diegetic sound - sinister music which is unsettling to the audience.
  • Enhanced sound effect - when the clown appears, to scare the audience.
  • Setting - normal town, in a school, a creepy house.
  • Fast editing - reflects the characters fear, when the pictures are changing.
  • Colour scheme is very dull, there is lots of greenery in the town and a red balloon, which stands out against the other colours - reflects the genre as it is creepy.
  • Editing - slow at the start, speeds up towards the end.
