TV spots

TV spots

I am going to be looking at two TV spots and analysing the conventions of each, and seeing how they compare to each other. The films I have chosen are Hostiles and Dunkirk. I decided to choice these films as they are both from different genres. Hostiles is a western drama whereas Dunkirk is a historical action film. Although both films may have a slightly similar target audience, the conventions of the films may differ.

Hostiles:

  • Begins with a quote from a review.
  • Fast pace of editing throughout showing the best action scenes.
  • More reviews.
  • Taglines to explain the storyline.
  • Storyline and characters are briefly shown but not developed.
  • Voiceover at the end (not from the film) saying name of the film and release date.
  • Specific release date.
Dunkirk:

  • Name of director.
  • Fast pace pf editing with action shots most dramatic scenes being shown.
  • Taglines.
  • A bit of dialogue.
  • Name of film at end.
  • Voiceover at end (not from the film).
  • Format of film - iMax.
  • Rating.
  • Specific release date.
